Any students who have expressed an interest in being a part of the 2019-2020 School Advisory Council please meet with Mrs.  Martin in room 108 at lunch. 

Picture retakes are scheduled for October 4th.

There will be a parent meeting for parents of students interested in attending the Cultural Immersion Service Trip to the Dominican Republic in April 2020 on Wednesday at 6:00pm in room 206.

The AARAO Fair will be held at Charles P. Allen High School on Thursday  in the gym, from 1:15 to 2:30, for grade 12 students.  The AARAO Fair provides the best opportunity for grade 12 students to check out many post secondary options at one convenient location.  There will be 48 institutions attending this event. A complete list of schools can be found on the guidance website.  You can also find this list on the AARAO.ca website by clicking Fairs > Nova Scotia, finding “Halifax Regional Municipality” and clicking “View Participants.” There are also optional sign-up presentations after the fair ends from 2:30 to 3:30 with the following schools: Acadia, Dalhousie, Memorial, Mount Allison, Mount Saint Vincent, Nova Scotia Community College, Saint Mary’s, and St. Francis Xavier.  Additionally, there will be two extra evening events in the HRM this year where students, parents, and supporters can attend.

LORAN SCHOLARSHIP
What is it?
The selection of a Loran Scholar is unique in its attention to a young person’s character. The Loran Foundation believes that integrity, courage, grit and personal autonomy are better indicators of overall potential than standard academic measures.
Criteria
• Be in your final year of uninterrupted full-time studies in high school.
• Present a minimum cumulative average of 85%.
• Hold Canadian citizenship or permanent resident status.
• Be at least 16 years of age by September 1st of the following year.
How to apply
Sponsored Applicants – If you want to be considered you must pick up an application form from Ms. Lowe in guidance ASAP.  Then you must submit applications to Ms. Lowe in guidance by the end of the day on Monday October 7th, 2019.
